Advancing subjects is only allowed if the student is already taking additional subjects due to a Minor Program(s), or if the student is trying to accommodate subjects in order to graduate on time.
Other special cases with regard to serious matters can be appealed, but there is no assurance that they will be approved.
Once grades have been released for a particular semester and the student incurs a failing grade for a particular subject, the student should immediately request for advisement in order to reschedule the said subject.
Adding extra subjects, for reasons of Minor Degrees, Double Major Degrees, and special classes, can be done via Advisement.
However, please note the rules regarding overloading and underloading.
Overloading units is usually done in order to (1) accommodate Minor Degrees, or (2) allow students to finish all their subjects and graduate on time.
Students are only advised to overload starting from their Junior Year onwards.
Juniors need permission from the ADAA to overload, while Seniors and Superseniors are automatically allowed.
Underloading units is a special case that happens ONLY during serious circumstances when a student has to take lesser load than is originally specified in their IPS.
All requests for underload are subject to approval.
Note that underloading does not automatically reduce the amount of tuition a student has to pay for the semester.
There are instances when a student takes an equivalent of a particular class, but under a different course code or course title. Other times, the student takes a higher version of a class than is required in his or her IPS.
These are classes that are bound to be validated, and they have to be brought to the RO as soon as possible.
Ex. CW workshops that are also listed as Lit electives.
